Lot sizes and T+2 settlement

How shares trade in round lots, and the two-day wait before a purchase truly settles.

On HOSE, shares trade in round lots of 100. An order for a multiple of 100 goes to the normal board; smaller odd-lot orders trade through a separate mechanism.

T+2 settlement

When you buy, the shares are not yours to sell instantly. Settlement happens on T+2, two business days later, when the shares and cash actually change hands. Only then can you sell them.

Why the wait matters

The T+2 rule means you cannot freely day-trade the same shares. Planning around the settlement date is part of managing a Vietnamese portfolio.

Why it matters

Knowing when shares become sellable, and that odd lots trade separately, avoids surprises when you place an order. Settlement rules can change, so check current ones.
